Further afield, and following another successful and blessed weekend with our friends in Barrow Upon Humber over the weekend of 7 and 8 February 2009, we have been invited back for a further concert/Rock Eucharist combo (the not-yet-written v3) over the weekend of 14 and 15 November 2009. This is looking good at the moment, but we just need to tie down everyone’s availability in order to confirm.

Finally, and most importantly for theREIGN at this point, we have now set a date for a Communion on the Rocks showcase event, to be held at St Aidan’s church in East Hull on Thursday evening 7 May 2009, beginning at 7:30pm. This event is designed for us to showcase/lead the Rock Eucharist event for a congregation of invited local ministers and youth leaders with a view to expanding the event’s ministry within local churches. Please pray for the organisation, promotion and execution of this event.

This video is the first recording of a full live song performance that we have made available, but we very much hope there will be more to come in the near future. It features the opening song of the band’s well received concert at Holy Trinity Church in Barrow on Humber in July 2008, Jesus The King.

This is a rehearsal, rather than a polished show, and an opportunity for the band to assess what works, what doesn’t, and make any final tweaks required before taking it to the festival. Entry will be completely and utterly free.

If you are in the area, we would love you to join us for what should be an exciting and fun-packed evening. And, best of all, you get to tell us what you liked and what you didn’t and offer some suggestions for improvements where necessary.

As last year, the band will be joined by Rachel Ganney, Minister in charge of St John’s Church, Bransholme, and want to give this year’s RE a different kind of feel to last years, taking into account tweaks already made through the events held in Hull in the course of 2008.

Please pray for the band as they pull together the various elements, put together a powerful and moving multi-media presentation/sermon on Greenbelt_08’s theme “Rising Sun”, and rehearse the whole thing both privately and, hopefully, in public.

The only other outstanding issue on this is confirmation of when the RE will happen in the course of the festival. Last year’s successful Friday night slot appears to have been subsumed within and “Indie Night” in the venue, and the band are awaiting confirmation of the alternatives. Please pray that a suitable timeslot is forthcoming.
