Having had one abortive attempt at bolting an online store onto the TFKM website, we have now taken a different approach and had another go using osCommerce, an Open Source package dedicated solely to this function.

The store is now fully up and running, and can be accessed via the Buy Stuff page, or from the direct link.

Also on the Buy Stuff page are links to our merchandise stores at Cafepress and Spreadshirt, where you can buy t-shirts, bags, hats, all that sort of thing … as well as the TFKM song book (although I would hold off on that, as we are planning to release a new edition very shortly).

If you check out the Cafepress store, we have introduced some new items related to the release of 96, including a handsome t-shirt, which comes in various colours, a striking new coffee mug and a cool tote bag.

Site Update

The site has now been updated to include a page for theREIGN’s brand new, live album, 96, which is due for release on Saturday 10 September 2011. The CD and downloadable songs will become available in the TFKM online store from midnight on the 10th.

’96′ Launch Concert

If you have visited theREIGN’s site recently, you will have seen the announcement of the release of their live album “96” on Saturday 10 September 2011, with a concert at St Barnabas Church in Swanland.

Recorded live at Withernsea United Reformed Church in October of last year, the album includes 13 audio tracks and some fantastic bonus material, including two further tracks, recorded live at the 2010 East Hull Easter Praise event at St Aidan’s Church, as mp3 files.

The album will be available at the concert, and also online (as a CD and partial download) via the TFKM Store. Sadly, licensing restrictions mean that we can only make the songs we didn’t write available in physical format (i.e. CD in this case) and not downloadable. That means that 9 of the audio tracks will be available electronically.

The launch concert begins at 6:30pm, entry is free, and it will provide an opportunity to say a final farewell to Paul and Kev as they leave the lineup once and for all, as well as a rousing hello to Rob and Simon as they fully take over the guitaring and drumming duties. There will also be a very special finale featuring the massed bands of theREIGN!

I really hope that as many of you as possible will be able to join us on September 10th to celebrate the launch of the band’s third (and first live) album.

Happy Birthday TFKM

Today, 21 April 2011, marks the tenth anniversary of the setting up of That Fatal Kiss Music, and it is interesting and humbling to look back now and see what has become of my music and ministry over that time, taking in my first recording fumbles, the formation of theREIGN, Greenbelt, 30 odd Rock Eucharists and so on.

The song database has grown from the original dozen(ish) to around 40 now, with several new ones waiting in the wings to make their bow on the site.

Obviously more time has been spent on theREIGN in recent years, hence the site here has seen less activity (from my end at least) than it once did, but I hope you still find it to be a useful resource for my songs, and I particularly appreciate those people who visit here to check up on my diary and pray for my involvement with worship events around the City, and further afield, both solo and with the band.

As the band gears up for an active couple of months to come, including the release of our first live album, I thought I would commemorate this auspicious day by taking a look back over 10 years of the TFKM website, and I am enormously grateful to the Internet Wayback Machine for keeping copies of the earlier versions of the site … because I didn’t!

Below you will find images from various versions of the TFKM home page going all the way back to 2001. Sadly, moving the site onto WordPress in 2008 has made it impossible for the Wayback Machine to archive the look of the site any longer. The text, yes, but not the style. Click on the thumbnails to see them in all their “glory”.

	[2001] The original home page, first activated on 21 April 2011, but not fully launched until the release of I Will Follow was imminent. Looks very dated now, but the web was a different place in those days.

	[2002] I soon got bored of that text heavy look, and wanted to give the whole place a little more style … judge for yourself how successful I was. The “Error” in the top blue bar is where the Flash navigation was located. Took ages to get the frames working right, and I really shouldn’t have bothered.

	[2003] More Flash … navigation bar, news ticker etc., but still basically an HTML site, and that fixed width style with the solid, coloured credit bar at the bottom became the signature look for all my websites for a while. It was a pain to keep up to date, but I still really like this design …

	[2004] … as evidenced by the fact that the next re-design was more of a tweak. Shuffle the images around on the home page, make it a little more informative, that sort of thing. Otherwise the 2004 version is essentially the same as 2003.

	[2006] The site moved onto the PHPNuke CMS, basically because I could install that automatically within my web host. After many aborted styles, this became the look of TFKM for a couple of years, before Nuke’s security holes and ease of hacking drove me into the arms of WordPress where I have been ever since.

I hope you have enjoyed this whistle-stop tour of TFKM’s online history. Keep an eye out for the new songs as they appear over the next few months, and for the arrival of 96, theREIGN’s live album which is due for release in the next few months.

Mega-Update for theREIGN

New Online Store

Those of you who are particularly eagle-eyed will have noticed a link in the Navigation bar to a new “Store”. This is an experiment to see if I can pull together those things we have for sale into a single, simple interface. I suggest that you don’t actually try to buy anything at the moment, as it is currently under construction, and has not yet been fully tested.

Once it has been completed, I will confirm accordingly. In the meantime, please bear with me as I pull it all together. One of the joys of WordPress is that it is not possible to quietly build and test stuff in the background, so enjoy my trials and tribulations!

At Last!

Well, it has certainly taken a while, but I have finally managed to upload audio files for Great King Of Love and Sanctified.

These tracks were recorded live by theREIGN during their concert at Barrow Upon Humber back in November 2009. Apologies in advance for the quality of my voice, which was starting to give up the ghost in the middle of a long run of events.

I hope you enjoy hearing them (at last).

New Ways to keep up with theREIGN

In a bold bid to enter the 21st Century, theREIGN have now created a presence on Facebook and Twitter, as well as giving their MySpace presence a long overdue update.

Given how poor I am at keeping this site bang up to date, it will be interesting to see how well I manage to keep on top of Facebook, MySpace and Twitter as well but time will tell.

Go have a look, become a fan or follower, and let’s see what sweet music we can make to further God’s Kingdom.

Server Change

After a review of all of my web hosting, including the related sites for theREIGN and the Rock Eucharist, I have decided to change my web host for the sake of flexibility and cost.

This means that over the next few weeks I will be working hard to get the sites moved over to the new server and there may be some downtime on the site, during which the downloads may also be unavailable.

Obviously, I will do everything I can to minimise the disruption and ensure as seamless a service as possible, but it looks as though it will be nigh on impossible to accomplish the move without the site being offline for a little while (possibly even a few days). The plan is to move one site at a time, so when this site goes down theREIGN’s site will still be available and once this is back then theREIGN’s site will be moved, and so on.

Please accept my apologies in advance for any inconvenience … I will, of course, post more once I know exactly when the outage will take place.

So Much To Do, So Little Time

It is always nice to be busy and in demand, but (as you will see if you check out the Calendar page) the last few months of 2009 really take the biscuit.

In between leading worship for various services at my home church in Swanland, there are half a dozen Rock Eucharist events with theREIGN, a Harvest Supper, a couple of carol services and a concert at Barrow, again with theREIGN.

Preparations for RE3: Though We Are Many have gone well so far, and the band are in good shape to kick off the Autumn season, which includes three events in the space of 6 days starting on Monday 19 October, so your prayers would be greatly valued for our stamina, fingers and voices as well as for the churches where these events will be held.

Likewise, I would value your prayers for my home church, St Barnabas. After a year long interregnum, 8 October sees the institution of our new minister, Francis Scott, who has a great interest in music (as well as a highly musical family). Please pray that his introduction into the life of the church and the community goes smoothly and that the Lord blesses him and his family in the new job/home/community.

Finally, I am still suffering a measure of writers block … particularly where lyrics are concerned. At the last count I have at least half a dozen songs at various stages of development which I just cannot move forward with for whatever reason. Please pray that this blockage is lifted so that my ministry in this area can continue to grow and glorify the Lord.

That is about it for now. As always, your feedback is welcomed on the songs and anything else you fancy, and if you get the chance to attend one of our Rock Eucharist events over the next six weeks, I would love to see you there.
